While not the sprawling epic of a Crash Landing on You, First Love (2025) is a charming, bite-sized web drama that captures the fluttering anxieties of teenage romance with an anthology format. Each of its six 20-minute episodes tells a stand-alone story of youthful longing at a Seoul high school, from a model student helping a Japanese transfer student complete a bucket list to a rising K-pop idol confronting feelings for an old friend.

Performances across the board feel authentic; the casts, including a lineup of K-pop idols like Eunchan (TEMPEST) and Cha Jun-ho (DRIPPIN), effectively ground their roles with natural chemistry. The series' strength lies in its ability to evoke the bittersweet, "butterfly-inducing" energy of first love through sincere storytelling.

That said, because each love story is crammed into roughly 20 minutes, character and conflict development is unavoidably shallow. Some episodes feel more like a montage of "fluttery" moments rather than a complete narrative. Additionally, pacing can be inconsistent, with certain plots wrapping up too abruptly as they reach the most interesting point.

Despite these limitations, First Love serves its purpose beautifully as an easy, lighthearted watch. It’s the perfect show for a quick mood lift—a comfortable, nostalgic trip back to simpler times. If you are looking for a deep story, you may want to look elsewhere; but if you need a short, sweet escape, this series delivers.
