Batman V Superman Dawn Of Justice (2016) Review
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is an ambitious but divisive superhero film that tries to do too much at once. Directed by Zack Snyder, the movie brings together two of DC’s most iconic heroes—Batman and Superman—in a dark, heavy narrative that explores power, fear, and responsibility.
The story picks up after the destruction seen in Man of Steel, where Bruce Wayne, played by Ben Affleck, views Superman as a dangerous, god-like figure who must be stopped. On the other side, Henry Cavill’s Superman struggles with how humanity perceives him—savior or threat. This ideological conflict sets the stage for their inevitable clash.
One of the film’s strengths is its tone and visual style. Zack Snyder creates a gritty, almost mythological atmosphere, with striking imagery and powerful action sequences. Ben Affleck delivers a surprisingly strong performance as an older, more cynical Batman, bringing a sense of brutality and depth to the character.
However, the film often feels overcrowded. Subplots involving Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor (played by Jesse Eisenberg), and the setup for future DC films make the narrative feel rushed and unfocused. Jesse Eisenberg’s version of Lex Luthor is particularly polarizing, with a more eccentric and unpredictable portrayal that doesn’t work for everyone.
The much-anticipated battle between Batman and Superman is visually intense, but its emotional payoff feels somewhat forced, especially due to the controversial “Martha” moment that quickly resolves their conflict.
At its core, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice aims to explore deep philosophical themes, but its complex storytelling and heavy tone may not connect with all audiences. It’s visually bold and conceptually interesting, but uneven in execution—making it a film that sparks as much debate as it does excitement.
